Another day of school done, and another day of homework.  However, today was a little different.  The Starrs had some company over.

Katrina McIrish had come home with one of the girls.  She and Rai Sing had finished their homework early.  Someone had turned on the stereo when they had come in the door, and one of Rai’s favorite songs started to play.  He looked over.  “Hey, Katrina,” Rai said casually, “do you wanna dance?”

At least this time the guest have someone greeting them at the door.

Bree Li’ant came home from work one day to find a group of three people waiting on the Starr doorstep.  She greeted them all and then asked, “So, what are you all doing out here?”

Lifefruit and Homework

A while ago, after helping Ian in the garden, Fah Ling had noticed out of the corner of his eye his Dad Ian eating a strange fruit from their garden.

“Hey, Dad,” Fah Ling said, “I know we’ve been growing those, but I don’t think I’ve ever tried one.  What kind of fruit is that?”

Krystal Plays on the Computer

While Ian was still bathing, Krystal’s ghost sat at the computer.  She seemed to be playing some type of game, and its sounds echoed in the quiet home.

Ian could hear the computer going, even from where he was.  When he finally got out of the bathtub, he checked the time.  It was almost dawn, he thought.  Which one of the kids could still be up?  He thought it best to go check.

Wii says helloWii walked up to the young man in the park that evening.  When she had seen him, he had looked familiar to her.  Perhaps they went to the same school.  He certainly was attractive in her eyes.  It wouldn’t hurt to find out more about him.  Confidently, she said, “Hi there!  I’m Wii Shing Starr.  How are you?”

“Prety good,” he said, glancing her over.  “I’m Hasan.  Hasan Keaton.”

“Your name sounds familiar,” said Wii, pausing a moment to rack her brain.  “Say…aren’t you in my Simlish Literature class?  You sit over by the windows, don’t you?”

“You talking about Mr. Edward’s class?” Hasan asked, looking at her intently.

“That’s it!”  exclaimed Wii.  I knew I’d seen you somewhere before!  You did that great presentation on “Murder in Pleasantview!”

Shai Challenges Cycl0n3 Sw0rd

It was the weekend.  Elle, of course was grounded, so she was stuck at home.  She groused about inside the house much of the morning.

Shai Ning, on the other hand, decided to make the most of his weekend by trying to move up in the chess ranks.  Cycl0n3 Sw0rd, long time friend of Ian’s, happened to be next on the list.  Soon he and Shai were locked into a battle of the board.

When Ian woke up from his impromptu nap on the floor, he went back downstairs.  There was a note on the kitchen counter from Bridget.  “Dear Ian,” it read.  “I’m so sorry I wasn’t able to finish everything today.  I hope you can understand.  I was just too upset.  I am very sorry for your family’s loss.  I’ll do better tomorrow.  Bridget.”

Ian sighed.  Bridget was a nice young girl with a good heart.  He knew how distraught she had been that morning, and could understand why she had left early that day.  He’d still pay her day’s wages; it wasn’t her fault this had happened.

He napped for another hour or two, until the bus was due to arrive.  When they all came in, Ian sat his children down, and told them what had happened.  They all reacted quite differently.

Heartbreak and Bookworms

As Bridget and Ian were grieving, the Grim Reaper decided that now would be a good time to see if there was anything good to read in the house.  Apparently, when Krystal shook his hand, he took it as a carte blanche invitation to the Starr home.

Heartbroken, Ian saw the Reaper entering his home, and that was the last straw.  He moved beyond his grief to anger at his loss, and the Reaper was about to be the target of his rage.

Days passed, and routine once again settled in.

One particularly beautiful morning after breakfast, the kids had gone off to school, Ian was working on another story, and the housekeeper had just arrived to tidy things up.  Krystal started her day much like any day, by working in her garden.  She weeded, she harvested fruit, she watered the plants, and she enjoyed her time in the sun.
